Basically turn into a car salesman and sell me the class :)

No thanks.  If you want to play the class, do it, but it isn't up to me to sell you on it.  I know some of these guys here might care about more people joining the elementalist ranks, but it doesn't affect me at all.

Play it for a while, see if you like it.  If not, play something else.

Where do you get this idea that as an elementalist you are only allowed ONE WEAPON?

You are allowed any combination, as long as you equip out of battle.

Scepter/dagger is good for leveling up because it allows you to burst out some decent damage while still maintaining survivability.  Killing mobs with staff at lower levels is an absolute chore, sorry.  Dagger/dagger at lower levels doesn't shine yet, so scepter/dagger wins out.

As you mature as a player you will realize that there are certain situations for each weapon.  I usually am equipped with dagger/dagger unless there is something I need to blow up with meteor shower.  Scepter/dagger lost a lot of it's new car smell for me when I started doing dungeons.

Staff doesn't necessarily work BETTER than D/D, it is just different.  A different playstyle.  It is better for AOE damage and for heals, but it is worse for single target DPS.  The AOE damage is even arguable because churning earth deals a heap of damage, but a lot of it is condition.

You definitely need to gear and spec properly regardless of what weapon choice you make.

I switch between D/D and staff depending on the range requirements and skill levels of those players in a dungeon.  Sometimes there are fights where direct damage AOE is boss, so I want meteor shower.  Some fights I want to be up in the action, so I go d/d.  In either case, I generally roll with an aura/support build and gear according to my needs (damage or healing).

Meteor shower, by the way, is ineffective if you half-cast it.  You lose out on a large number of hits.  I had heard this a long time ago, and tested it out, and could tell right away that it wasn't doing as much damage.

At the top of my list:  a much more efficient way of finding a group.  Or, a standard dungeon finder in addition to an easier way to find a group that fits your particular needs if you are picky.

All of the dungeons can be done with any combination of classes, so as long as the players aren't completely fail I think that a dungeon finder would be a boon.

Buying a game on release will generally always be more expensive than later. Honestly the way i feel like with an MMO I feel rewarded by being able to play the game longer than someone who might have just picked it up.

At the sametime guys if GW2 was just another game and not an MMO, seasonal sales happen... get over yourselves honestly. I dont get mad when portal 2 goes for 66% off on steam even though i paid for the full 60$ right when it came out.

And to those of you who are asking for rewards for sticking with the game... they're not going to *ing pay you to play the game, that's not how this works.

"Oh thanks for playing our game for 3 months here's some free hats"... well arguably tf2 did that AFTER LIKE 3 YEARS.

/end rant

Everquest 2 and I think Everquest both give you free "veteran's rewards" for playing for longer than other people.  It isn't like they are giving it away "for free," this is a digital item that once it is made there is absolutely no cost in giving it to everyone who wants it.

I, for one, think it would be nice if they said "to everyone who prepurchased the game originally, you will also get a free upgrade."  It would be a sign of good faith towards the early adopters of their game and it might just keep a few people on their side.  That isn't exactly something to be taken for granted considering the amount of people they have disappointed lately.
