Upgrading advice

14 September 2012 - 08:00 AM

Greetings everyone,

I am looking to upgrade my current hardware for Guild Wars 2 which I will mainly focus on WvWvW and PVE content.

My current specs right now are:
AMD Phenom II X6 1050T 2.8GHz
Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor-X OC Edition
8GB Corsair Vengeance
Cooler Master H50 Cooling System
Cooler Master 750W PSU
Windows 7 64-Bit

The current video settings I'm running on Guild Wars 2 are as follow:
Resolution - 1920x1080
Graphic Mode - Balanced
Anti-Aliasing - None
Render Sampling - Default
Textures - High
Environment -  Medium
Shadows - High
Shaders - Medium
Reflections - All
Post processing - Low
Animations - High
Vertical Sync - Off
High Res Character Textures - On
Enable Stereoscopic Rendering - Off

I am getting a stable FPS of 45-53 on PVE zones while soloing, 38-45 while doing dynamic event bosses with a group of people, but only 18-22 FPS with WvWvW zergs.

My main issue during WvWvW is how slow some characters load. I can see particle effects flying around but wouldn't know if an enemy is beside me if I just entered a large scale zerg vs zerg until a few minutes later.

I have not lowered my settings in WvWvW because I'd still like to enjoy the environment and details of how beautiful Guild Wars 2 is.

My goal right now is to be able to play in mostly high settings with more than 30 FPS during zergs.

I am hoping to get an i5 3570k with a Z77 motherboard (possibly the ASUS Z77-V-LX or ASUS Z77 Sabertooth)
and a Sapphire HD 6850 Vapor-X.

My question now is which one should I get first to see a significant boost in my FPS? I can only get one of them first and the other 6 months later as these parts are not cheap in Singapore which is where I am currently residing in.

Or are there any other options? Should I also try to turbo boost/OC my X6 1050T and crossfire my 5770?

Also if anyone who lives in Malaysia or Singapore that knows how to get these components cheaper than the usual market price, please do advice.

Thanks for the feedbacks!
