In Topic: Magnetic Grasp - the new changes

The new Magnetic Grasp is absolutely awesome. I now use it to land my Comet or Burning Speed properly.

This is nothing if not a huge buff to a skill that was already very good, even if buggy.

You're assuming you don't encounter a player of the same or higher skill than you. If it ever happens, these few hundred stat points you're missing are definitely going to kill you. Even if you zerg, you zerg far more efficiently if you know what you're doing and have the appropriate gear to do so. It often happens I hop into an enemy zerg to force my side to charge, and manage to down one or two undergeared/glasscannon players that didn't expect such boldness (it more often happens they down me though and I have to vapor form back to my side). In these time you get downed with the rest with your MF gear, while you could have been resilient enough with non-MF gear to either resist the burst or not have to waste a dodge, or kill me faster than I could kill anyone.

And also as a side note, while zerging is badly considered over here, it's not such a mindless thing as you could think. Any Elementalist carrying a focus around in a zerg battle is giving a huge advantage to his own zerg by destroying enemy projectiles. Any guy that pop in the frontline with a projectile reflection move will also be quite a threat. Any zerger that knows what he's doing zerging will be able to add up to the strength of his side to push the other back or hold the ground depending on the situation. Only bad zergers mindlessly spam AoEs and skills to the enemy face.

Now yeah, if you feel like it, run with your MF gear, it's your choice, but don't say "it doesn't screw me over" because there will always be situations where you could have survived if you didn't.

If they decide (through watching players play it) that it's fun to play, and fun (fun is rather subjective, hate the use of it for an evaluation, how do you define "fun" in a competitive environment) to play against, then they'll leave well enough alone.

Well, I think you could say it isn't fun if even a less skilled player than you manage to kill you solely because of this build whatever you're trying to do to stop him. While D/D bunker is popular at the moment, they can't just nerf it yet because they don't know if it's truly OP. Meta in GW2 changes very slowly because few players are experimenting, but maybe tomorrow a Ranger (who knows?) will come up with a "kill bunker Ele" build and the days of D/D supremacy will be over.

If the meta changes to try and adapt to D/D but doesn't manage to do anything against it, then they will nerf it. It's not fun to either play or play against an "I win" build.

In Topic: What happened to the old S/D burst build?

Let's just say that the builds are so popular and related guides so well written that thinking about trying something else isn't really worth the effort. Not blaming anyone on this though, this is how most PvP metagames work.

I'm sure it does in WvW, but wouldn't recommend it. ;)

Exactly this. If you run Magic Find gear, you'll have trouble killing players. If you run Magic Find food, you lose on more high end food which would make player killing easier, thus getting you more loot.

I know for example that my Elementalist is far, far tougher with Omnomberry Ghost. The food alone allows me to lead charges at times, and rack up many kills.
