The red looks almost like Lifeblood. The dark color may be black, or possibly grey.

#2104095 Why is it so hard to get money in this game?

Liquidating my crafting collection and abandoning my idea to craft on all 8 of my characters changed my perspective on money in this game.  It really is a choice between "make it or have the money to buy it"  you can't have both so early in the game without some form of unnaturally repetitive action.

I like the idea of crafting.  I like the little bursts of xp while leveling.  I had that it was sucking up all my money.  On my first toon I was actually sweating over whether I could get enough cash together by the time I was ready to buy manuals, or running out of cash to upgrade gear every five levels.

On subsequent toons, I've all but abandoned crafting, and I always have enough for what I need when I get to the level where I need it.

It makes me think that making money in this game is a lot like leveling.

Namely, in the early days of the game you had people frequently posting threads about how they were underleveled for the area they'd gotten to, or asking how to level quickly.  Eventually people figured out that the game rewards you XP most by actually experiencing it.  Getting 100% completion in a zone, hitting DEs whenever you run across them, gathering materials along the way, hitting personal story as you come to it... that levels you much quicker than trying to grind mobs or specific DEs, and is a lot more enjoyable.  The devs have managed to frustrate most attempts at fast tracking leveling (unless you sink money into crafting), and rewarding people for actually playing.

Is it possible this is true of making money?

Play as you like, and over time you find you've earned enough to get what you need/want.  Focus solely on earning cash, and you end up frustrated and with a case of diminishing returns (in the general sense, not a specific game mechanic).

I haven't reached 80 yet, so perhaps I'm totally wrong there.  It seems to be true for gaining the money you need while leveling, though.

Maybe the next update will have "bot spot" achievements to go with Vistas...
