#1936705 Guild Wars 2 is smaller than Skyrim?

Posted Levelord on 16 September 2012 - 07:26 AM

Comparing an entire continent of Tyria...

To a small district of Tamriel called Skyrim....

Why don't you fools compare Tamriel against Tyria which are both continents and see which is bigger for your dick waving contest?

#1991523 Dungeons / Repairs are ridiculous

(...)how much gold I wasted on repairs ... 1.2 gold in a matter of hours(...)

(...)complete useless at most parts inside dungeons as a melee class (level 80 guardian). I get either one hit out of nowhere, or I get feared + ganked or other similar ridiculous tricks.(...)

(...)Anyone else who had similar experiences?(...)

1) 1.2 gold? ONE POINT TWO GOLD?! ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SILVER?! TWELVE THOUSAND COPPER?!
What the hell where you doing? How did you die that much.. I don't.. even...
I did a dungeon the other day with a PUG, some of them were doing it for their first time, and I died a total of three times. That's it. Three times, with an inexperienced PUG. For cinder's sake! My character name and guild name are both references to my tendency to mobdive and I didn't die that much.

2) No profession is strictly a melee profession. I repeat, no profession is strictly a melee profession. Every single profession in the game has ranged weapons available to them. If you need to fight from range, you bring a ranged weapon. If you are a guardian in a group you should have a staff. Staff is hands down the best weapon to bring in a group. The twelve stacks of might you can put on your party will make the overall damage far exceed what you'd do if you were swinging a greatsword or another damage-focused weapon around.
Even if you are melee, you have the ability to dodge, and you should do so, often! Very often! Why aren't you dodging and activating virtues to block attacks and yanking enemies around with control skills?
As a primarily guardian player, I'm not even sure what to say to you right now. If you are dying this much as a guardian, you are playing guardian completely wrong. Completely wrong! The problem isn't the dungeon, the problem is you! I am not trying to insult you when I say this, but if you are spending 1.2g and taking hours to do a dungeon, you simply need to learn to play. You need to go back and practice playing guardian, because you clearly aren't ready for the challenging parts of the game yet.

3) No! Even on my worst dungeon run, the very first time I did a dungeon, wearing blues and greens, not even level 80 yet, I still topped like... 9s in repairs? I think I had one or two armor pieces break through the whole thing.

In summary, no, I disagree, I think dungeon repairs are fine, and if you spend 1.2g on repairing your armor you deserve to lose that money, and should probably stay out of dungeons for awhile and try again later.

#1861131 Why are guardians and warriors considered overpowered?

All I can see is that you spend your time boasting about victories against newb players and this would  be your only way to counter any discussion regarding balance...don't know about you but for me your time is worth nothing, your inflated ego is a pain to see, you appear on every thread similar to this with your boasting messages....really irritating, let me give you a reality check in game..I really got enough of your obnoxious messages

It's not boasting, you got everything backwards.
I consider anyone like me, aka a player with proper bindings, a decade of MMO pvping on his back and perhaps gaming hardware to be a decent player.
Thus my point that if I can kill every other class on 3 classes (and my gf doing the same on another 2) then that indicates to me that all the class-based complaints are false, because I'm really no master of the keyboard so anyone with my skill level can do the same.

Sure, there are a few skills (that EVERY class has) that, if you don't bother to counter, will cause a serious harm to you.
But we are supposed to slot defensive cooldowns and use dodge for those situations, and Anet themselves said this.

And if you had enough of my messages, simply ignore them.
I too got enough of childs who call OP everything that kills them instead of learning what other classes do and counter it but eh, they have right of posting too.

Give me a break....you have shown to know only how to play 100b spammer and retaliation stacking derp build, and you had the rotten luck so far to have never met a competent player not using any of those herp derp builds, if you'd had met a mace warrior who was only half as able as that guy I met weeks ago...and you wouldn't be here screaming how pro you are, you really think to be able to counter every profession with your retaliation herp derp build or 100b zerger? ...dude.. a defensive guardian and berseker warrior don't last 20s against good players....self-confidence is one thing...blind arrogance is another, so you think to be able to counter every profession with your "builds", well you can see my guild tag..let me give you a "reality check" in game

I never played 100b spam nor retailation builds, once you're done making up lies and hiding behind a guild I may consider you worth my time. Maybe.

Anet...balance. You know what they did in GW1 right? Took them years to figure out elementalists were weak in hard mode pve. Took them so long to balance anything. I'm just hoping they know what they're doing in GW2 and know how to balance quickly and appropriately.

Also, on a PvE note since this is the PvE forums. Every single dungeon party will always have warriors and guardians. They are the most wanted. And people will realize that it becomes apparent that the NEED for these classes is going to be prove that the game inherently unbalanced.

You know why there is a "need" for them? Because you are seeing people looking for others to do story mode dungeons. Exploration mode Warrior and Guardian fall -way- behind because melee becomes alot less viable while CC in general becomes alot more wanted and needed.

That, and people are realizing that most idiots don't know how to dodge so people stick with the heavy armor classes. Not because of any innate OPness, but simply because people understand how incredibly stupid others are.

When it comes to it, the Soldier classes have the least flexibility of the other classes. They are focused on defense for Guardian or Offense for Warrior, and are both good at spreading their particular buffs around. Contrast this with others:

Engineer: Mid range "range" class, squishy, support is pretty much stuck to elixirs that most people dont seem to want to use. When played well can be a massive asset due to their support skills.

Ranger: Most people don't watch their pets, severely crippling their usage. When played well, can buff as well as Guardian -or- Warrior while offering CC

Thief: High damage and good support through poison sharing. Problem is people are bad at dodging so they die easier: Warriors and Guardians have abit of a crutch in that they wear heavy armor.

Elementalist: People just aren't getting attunements and switching. A good Elem can do -anything- better than a comparable Warrior or Guardian. They can even melee fairly well if they take lightning hammer since the thing has a fast cast AoE blind.

Mesmer: Oh dear lord, time warp is a game saver, but the class requires use of pets, that people are just -bad at using-.

Necromancer: Class needs some work, simple as that.

That's it, really. Guard and War are both a little easier in comparison to others (which is why people often ask for them, better chance that a crappy warrior will still be an asset than a crappy thief), in that their class mechanic is easier to understand. The thing is though, they are tunnel visioned somewhat and lack some flexibility. As the game progresses and people do exploration more, what people want will spread.

But don't go spouting this bull about how OP a class is based on hearsay information that you're guessing from map chat.

Considering this thread is in the pve area I won't comment. However in Hot join spvp warriors are insanely op.

Another case of "people are stupid"

I've dominated spvp matches with every class but Elem (I'm bad at attunements) and Mesmer (I just don't like the class). I've dominated -ALOT- of warriors. Infact, I started going after them as I worked my way through testing the classes. Warriors keep dominating because people aren't smart enough to dodge out of simple, easy to see moves.

I will say I did love my time as a warrior in spvp though. Took bolas and frenzy alongside an axe and shield using a power and toughness build. Was surprisingly effective, though when bolas was on cooldown I was a sitting duck.
