#2150142 No overflow in lions arch becoming an issue

Honestly an in-game version of GW2LFG would solve all problems, if you're able to do cross-server dungeoning.

Press Anet for that.

I started out not caring about this game - but now that more info is out it's definitely on my radar, I'm excited! I'm going to sign up for beta for sure. I really like what I've heard so far. I believe it'll be sub based though - which may put me off getting it even if I enjoy the beta. We'll see.

The Elder scrolls MMO has just been confirmed, and Gameinformer will roll out the big reveal in their June issue. Apparently, it will feature public dungeons and 3-faction pvp.

So perhaps GW2, even though it hasn't released yet, is the herald of a return to 3-faction pvp in the genre. It would be a welcome change, definitely.

#2148965 Do MMO players demand too much?

Posted beadnbutter32 on 23 January 2013 - 12:11 PM

MMO players are only half the equation.  As long as game publishers persist in talking like sleezy used car salesmen at every opportunity, players will react to that BS with a vengence.

#1979001 Social Failure?

Posted littleXuro on 29 September 2012 - 10:57 AM

I've had my fair share of complaints about the game so far but since those can be mostly fixed, I'm waiting to see what will happen but there is one thing that made me not play for nearly two days now and once again I logged out nearly instantly today.

The social aspect. In short, it's a joke in Guild Wars 2.

Every map I enter I always try to start a chat in map chat or with anyone close to me which usually has no response whatsoever as a result. So then I try to join a guild, been in 12 so far, nobody talks even though I try to get any conversation going (sadly most of these guilds advertise themselves as social guilds on this forum too).

I love to do Jumping Puzzles in WvW as it gives free treb/golem blueprints which can contribute quite good towards our war against the other servers, been shouting in map chat on every borderland for 8 days now, never did anyone even want to respond except a few annoying trolls who feel it's neccesary to point out it's a warzone and not a PvE enviroment.

Same story for any other activity I try to do in the game.

I can deal with flawed mechanics which can be tuned but as far as I can tell, this is a flaw in the core of the entire design around Guild Wars 2. Since there is no difference between grouping and non-grouping, people avoid the social aspect entirely appareantly.

I never felt so lonely in a MMORPG. If this is the next generation of MMO's, I will be done with this genre.

Edit, I should note I have been on 4 servers now, all give me the same result.

Hmm, rather weird that they would give money back to people that have broken the ToS they signed, but good for you I suppose.

It's because TOS and EULAs don't mean that much in court for a variety of reasons. They are often used because it's a "cover your ass technique" and it's easier to point you agreed to X to get customers to give up complaints even if they have the legal right to do so. Very few customers will take such a small thing to court. I know people want to act like they are some holy device, but they aren't. Even contracts aren't always legally binding because the content of them still has to follow the law. Many countries and even the US are beginning to struggle with the idea of digital goods.

Arena Net wants everyone to be piss poor in their game so they can sell more gems, simple logic.

They should have refunded NOTHING.  Period.

I made some purchases between when I actually salvaged snowflake jewelry and when they banned me- since it took them 2 weeks. If they hadn't of refunded at least that amount I could have contested it with American Express and gotten some of it back that way. It was a good move to refund all my gem purchases since it defuses most of the gripes I could have had and it prevents customers from filing credit card complaints.

#2147829 Easiest/cheapest ascended trinket to obtain?

Posted madmaxII on 21 January 2013 - 11:30 PM

There are only rings and backpacks at the moment. Here is a full list including ways to obtain them.

It obviously depends on your ingame wealth and your progress in the fractals which one is the easiest to get. My advice would be doing lvl 10 daily runs until you can buy the backpack for 1850 tokens or a ring of your choice.

All I know is that I had thought Guild Wars 2 would be a fresh air - and for three months, it was.

Now the spectre of grinding one dungeon for 60 hours in a row confronts me. And more, in future, when they release more new gear. I really had thought Arenanet would have the balls to stick to their GW1 game plan.

I'm just.. I think, if I don't hear something spectacularly 'mea-culpa'-ish in the AMA today, that the MMO genre is soured for me... forever. I'm sorry.

Shame really its a pretty good game.

Bit dramatic with the old spectre of grinding for 60 hours etc, why do you feel the need to grind it and what could they have replaced the current system with.

OK wvw seems to be a mess.
The PVE exploration part of the game is good, crafting is also good, Jumping puzzles not for everyone and they can be frustrating but quite fun at times.
Dungeons well again not for everyone but when you have done everything else they provide more content.

I really fail to see why adding loads of optional content isnt better than having nothing to do.
There is no grind only content, its completely in the hands of the individual player as to whether they do it or not.

#2097067 Which MMO will you all be going to now?

Posted Gremlin on 26 November 2012 - 06:25 PM

What a shock to the system it must be to suddenly realise that just because you are leaving a game, everyone isnt following you or that when you do post your leaving we don't all act like your a friend on facebook and go oh no why, whats wrong and so on.

Don't like the game then go you don't have to tell everyone about it.
Leaving because there is too much grind, well you could decide not to grind, seems obvious to me otherwise goodby.

#2097062 Which MMO will you all be going to now?

Posted Zosimus on 26 November 2012 - 06:21 PM

I was one of many that have jumped from many MMO's and gone back and tried them again gamers

1) Ultima Online

2) Dark Age of Camelot

3) Ultima Online

4) GW1

5) Warhammer Online

6) Ultima Online

7) GW1

8) GW2

* Voyage Century Online and Rappelz are two ftp games I play from time to time but it's been a long while since I played them.

GW1 finally had me settled down and I enjoyed it. I could just play and play when I had time. I enjoy GW2 and I really have fun playing the game. I came to the conclusion that I enjoyed many of the MMO's I have tried but GW2 will be my final stop in MMO's.

Elder Scrolls Online looks good and all but truly I am tired of running in circles to try to find "THE" game. It's not the game's fault but more my issues  what I did in the game and why I left. Some MMO's can be classified as a series of bad dates. I kind of view it now as the "its not you but me" routine when I walked away from the MMO.

GW2 may not be for everybody but I am sticking with it. I hope some that are looking find the game they do enjoy. Thats what games are all about. Fun and enjoyment.
