"Here's a part of the game that's already finished but we're withholding from you for MORE money LATER!"
It's also why now we have lottery boxes in the gem store. Because DAMN do you all lap that right up. Games stopped becoming games long ago. Now they're cash cows. Business models. They do nothing different from each other anymore. Games stopped being for gamers long ago.
This right here. However, at times, I do feel like they do extra to keep the game on its feet, and to make it for gamers and not for money.
Take some of these festivals. They didn't have to do much more than decorate the main city and offer out candy from the minigame, but they also added spawn points around the world, dungeon drops, special foods, and will probably include another seperate dungeon. Even if Canach's dungeon seemed sub-par in design, there was a lot of time put into it, and the idea it was built around was rather interesting and unique. I greatly appreciate that ArenaNet has tried this hard to make a great game and to offer it to more players, but sometimes, you're right. The corporate side of them can really shine through, especially with the low Holographic Wing drop rate (and the promised high drop rate for Rare Coffers).
