#2086520 Lost shore event, 2 hours of uberlag

Posted Omedon on 18 November 2012 - 11:03 PM

There is no competition more vile and more out of place in MMORPGs in 2012 than PvE competition.  Shame on those complaining that "someone else got something."

Congrats to those who got lucky with their rewards, that's awesome that they'd hand these out for this event! :)

#2074263 Fractals of the Mists - New Dungeon 'Hub'

Posted Zedabi on 12 November 2012 - 04:15 PM

First off: This might be asking a lot, but please, don't turn this into a Ascended Armour QQ thread. We've already got a thread for this. This is merely a speculation thread on what people think this the new dungeon hub thing will entail.

Quote

The Fractals of the Mists is made up of nine mini-dungeons, each with its own story and environment. A party of five will enter the dungeon and be faced with a random set of three of these dungeons at a time. Upon completing those three, the party will be transported to a hub to rest, repair, and merch -- and the difficulty scale for the dungeon will be raised. Every time the difficulty scale is at an even number, players will face a special boss encounter.

My speculations

1) In content updates, we'll see more dungeons added to this.

2) Dungeons might be related to old lore and old GW missions. For example, Underworld and Fissure of Woe are in the Mists.

3) Possibly tied in with the up coming pre-cursor changes. I.E if you get to a certain level of difficulty / collect enough tokens you get awarded a pre-cursor / pre-cursor token. Likewise, possibly drops from the 'special bosses'.

#2077107 I absolutely do not like this..Gear grind in GW

And you created another thread because the other 7 about this very topic weren't good enough for you?

#2054191 What are some of the 'must have' items before Halloween ends?

Must have more inventory space to horde all the crap I looted

#2046857 Mass stacking of players - legit or exploit?

Posted Nevron on 27 October 2012 - 07:41 PM

I don't think it's really an exploit, I just think it's bad game design. Anything that enables a zerg to zerg more effectively is bad design. Clustering up should be penalized, not rewarded.

#2047527 JQ / SBI / BG The Wagon Warz : 10/26/12 - 11/2/12

I think "brutal" is the word to use for this tier. You have no space to breathe. You need to keep running (with purpose, not like a headless chicken) from one point to the other while carefully watching your environment. No offense to JQ and IoJ, but the close fights against BG are way different - died three times more in skirmishes against BG then in all last week and spent many silver on repairs.

And then there are the planned ganks on yaks and camps. 4 minute hits on your keep exactly when your main force is elsewhere. 10 people havoc squads that you need 20 to stop....

I enter the maps and I feel something different - is it excitement, worry...fear ? I love it :)

Based on how they played so far BG will probably win this tier. It's not over yet, for sure. But SBI will need to bring their A game all day in order to even stay in tier 1, IMO.

I anticipate BG or SBI winning this match. JQ has to calm down, and a lot of it's members need to get over a lot of personal issues. There is a lot of constant trolling from indigenous members who rage hard at anyone who has not always been on JQ. The community itself is completely hostile. Soon as those people leave/get bored, and start working more co-operatively with the commanders JQ will be a force, but for now, it's mostly just like herding cats with a garbage bag.

I feel like I'm doing random WoW Battlegrounds, complete with the chat.

If Blackgate were any thing like HoD or JQ, our core which has remained in tact since the very beginning would have been blown apart long ago when we were getting stomped. Many of our new transfers have already felt at home here and have opened recruiting. We're here to stay.

Quite a different situation. The server that wins T1 tends to recieve and influx of "band-wagoners" who are there to win which inflates queue times and in the case of HoD and to an extent JQ driven off a lot of respectable players due to insane queue times. The exact sort of people that were on a server through the good and the bad have left JQ because of the queues created. This is the price of winning that was referred to. Note this isn't to say that every dedicated person on JQ or HoD left but the atmosphere definitely becomes uneasy.

#2041912 Anet releasing MOBA type gameplay within GW2?

Also, could people stop using this retarded MOBA expression?it's just something riot games made up from thin air,so they wouldn't say the main competitor's name non stop.It was,is and will be DOTA.

Just a heads up... FPS(First Person Shooters) were all called "Doom-Clones" when they first started coming out. Kind of a misnomer since Doom was cloned off of Wolfenstien 3D, but whatever. When there were enough of them around to justify defining the gamplay as a "genre" we got FPS. With DoTA and it's clones we now have the full fledged genre known as MOBA.

Ye tell me about it, i just didnt trashed all my tonics by pure chance because they are useless to me, good thingh i got large bags and wasnt tight for space.

This fix is good i guess, but as you said how about all the people that just trashed all the crap they got from the chests because there just wasnt enough space for that much crap anywhere.

It should have been any 3 tonics imo.

Again, Guild Wars 1. Is it too much to expect consistency and honesty from a company? At least warn about the odds first....

They are being consistent.  We got hats.  We got a backpack skin.  And they have also hinted there is more to come in terms of rewards.  There is NOTHING so far that is not consistent with GW1's philosophy on events.

Simply put, you are mad because you wanted weapon skins.  That's what it boils down to.  You can dress it up any way you want, but that is all this boils down to.  Arena Net has done nothing wrong, they have not lied to us, and they have not betrayed reasonable expectations.  It's fine to be mad... I'm not saying don't be mad.  But don't blame arena-net because you did not get exactly what you wanted.  They've given us tons of new content and skins for free.  Accept this, take a deep breath, and enjoy life.

#2034757 Kinda bored of the game already

Posted Red_Falcon on 22 October 2012 - 01:46 PM

There is a thread in the official forums where a lot of people came out of the closet with GW2.
They admitted they wanted power progression to pubstomp on undergeared people to feel pro.
They admitted they wanted auto-follow target, passive blocks/dodges and WoW ezmode tank gimmicks.
They admitted they zerged in dungeons and WvW because they couldn't come up with a strategy.
They admitted they wanted the game to tell them what to do at 80 and felt completely lost when they were told what to do is to have fun and how to do it is up to them.

The more time goes the more we're disclosing why some people got "bored" of GW2.
They bought a chessboard and wondered why drawing X'es and 0's didn't work as well as it did on their tic-tac-toe board.
This says a lot about this gen of MMO gamers, they don't bother reading anything on a game they just expect it to be another WoW clone that spoon-feeds them with informations, holds their hand into time-sinks and gives them easy, brain-dead ways of overcoming content.

I'm so happy the truth is finally coming out and the real GW2 community is forming; I thought we'd need a lot less than two months tho.
I believe in a couple weeks we'll finally be able to lay back in the chair and talk normally without having to swim in a sea of traditional MMO ADD lifeless zombies.
