#2181210 "Tyria", a parody for GW2

I wish my dad made songs like this instead of trying to rap.

Well done.

Thank you M'Lady!  We all need to find out what works for us.  I did a rap-ish parody called "Wookiee" that my wife just can't stand...but others liked it, so its also a matter of perspective.  However, because I really wanted my wife to like my work, I stopped doing rap ones! Rap really isn't my style though, so its was easy to avoid.  But making parodies is my passion...so she'd never deny me the effort :)

Carlie Ray Jepsen is the bestest artist in the world. I took her "Call Me Maybe" song, maybe the best in the world with some Jack Daniels and Coke and began to sing. I changed the lyrics to reflect a WvW focused lyric thingy style.

Anyway, I present to you: Respawn Maybe

Yes is responded to one guy this time, But go back a few pages and you'll see that there are about as many people who had already called this match, as those of you who didn't. The fact that they do a U-turn or STFU now is irrelevant.
Any SBI native should already know it's not over until Friday. We were on the receiving end of one of the most demoralizing comebacks in our server's history against HoD, and we've dealt a few ourselves. The only ones congratulating us are either non-SBI members or incredibly naive ones.

But since you're new to T1 and don't seem to know the history of it, I'll give you a pass this time.

you seem pretty worked up :P

Any person can come on guru to call the match, misrepresenting is a time honored tradition of guru. Obviously it concerns us when u made the leap to insinuate ... Grats SBI

Grats SBI. Clearly we can't come back and if we do, its just an excuse!
By all means don't stop ...part of what makes the rivalry strong. But of course we have to respond as well :D

#2097423 It's Official - Constantly Increasing Gear Stats Are Planned

Posted Cosian on 26 November 2012 - 11:47 PM

After reading through the recent answers to the Chris Whiteside Ask Me Anything Highlights I could not not help but walk away with an empty pit in my stomach.

The take away here is that constantly evolving and improving gear stats are planned.  While Chris says there is no plan for another named Tier like Ascended he says clearly that an ongoing gearing progression is intended via things like infusions or other 'loot' that can improve existing Tier gear stats.

OK so we don't have a new Tier .... just ongoing gear stat improvement to existing Tiers??  Somehow this is different?

Now Chris spins this by saying the gear curve will be shallow and the grind will be easy.  If I had a dollar for every time a game developer made those statements to rationalize their thought they needed gear progression in their game I would be a rich man.

I could care less what they do with PvE content and the gear treadmill there.  I would rather stick a sharp stick in my eye than run Fractals endlessly.  But all of this impacts WvW.

The reality here, just like in every other 'Open World' PvP game in the genre is that as time goes on, even a shallow curve between 'levels' becomes a mountain for the new player joining.  So a year down the road Ted wants to try out GW2 because he wants to get into some RvR style PvP.  What kind of experience does he have to look forward to?  What will be required to get viable?  Right now its a reasonably quick trip to 80 and Rares.  Exotics ... not much more effort.

But then we have Ascended ... then infused Ascended ... then Ascended with Super Level 2 infusions.

When looking at this dynamic you have to look at the difference between a level 30 blue geared player and a top tier tweaked character after each is WvW buffed.  I can tell you I felt the difference between level 79 rares and level 80's exotics.  How much more gimped will a level 30 blue or green character feel against a fully tweaked toon in Level 5 Super Infused Ascended Gear?

Its so simple ... if the mountain is too high, the masses won't climb it and we will be left with a slowly dieing PvP game just like every other game in this genre with gear progression.

Since it is quite clear from Chris's comments that this where we are headed, is it time to lobby for WvW working like SPvP in terms of gear and stats?

I am going to the bar and drown my tears.

#2097165 T1: SoS Vs. JQQ Vs. SBI - Now let's see with no PvE

Posted BloodSF on 26 November 2012 - 07:52 PM

Well, I guess we should take this back-n-forth and turn it into something fun. Here's a working list of the rules of T1. Do add your own, in good taste, not singling out any server by name.

***The Rules of T1***

1.) You will be 2v1'ed. Learn to live with it, and ways to mitigate it.

2.) You cannot actually win. If you win the point total, the excuses on the forums will prove that, actually, you lost. Just behind the scenes. It's best that you know this ahead of time.

3.) There are often thieves/mesmers/guardians from the enemy team in the keeps by the lord's room inexplicably, likely through exploits. The best things to do in this scenario is to take screenshots, post them online, defame a server while absolutely losing your mind on the boards for about 30 minutes... and then, once the moderators delete said posts, go back to playing and act like nothing happened.

4.) People who either are in point leads, or feel that they should be, will provoke you on the forums. The best things to do is to spend hours replying. Forum fights help your server in game the most... and ultimately there's a point to it, so your time isn't wasted.

5.) You will be 2v1'ed.

6.) You will be 2v1'ed.

7.) Theres 3 teams. You're one of them. All fighting on the same map. ... guess what will often happen? (2v1).

8.) If you win, guilds will switch to your server as will PuGs with commander tags, and will start screaming at everyone in map chat. These are the bold, extremely intelligent and informed leaders you've been waiting for. The fruits of your labor. Embrace them - for they are the only trophy of winning WvW. And have fun trying to get them to stfu at reset. :)

9.) Portal bombs, cloaking abilities, coordinated stun abilities, and groups of more than 3 ppl playing together past 12am ET, are unfair and should be removed from the game. Therefore any and all victories achieved through these means are voided and thus irrelevant.

I think there was some past drama with Ph and some other Filipino guilds. There were also some issues with JQ when Ph was looking to transfer there.

I don't know what might have happened between Urge and Ph, but here was how Bab stated things in this JQ thread ...

Anyhoo ... looks like they found a good home on SBI without drama and that's a good thing.

We're not exactly sure why too.

We're happy at SBI and they welcomed us with open arms. We pay back by doing what we can do eg be active in WvW. :)

#2081330 Ascended gear...a big F you to WvWers

Posted Killminusnine on 15 November 2012 - 07:21 PM

The real issue is the mistreatment of WvW focused players with regard to badges and the available gear via badges.  They could make everyone happy if they made some simple changes:

1. WvW gear should be bad ass looking and on par with dungeon gear in terms of creativity and graphical item budget.
2. WvW gear should be available in every possible stat combination at the same cost for each combo.
3. They should introduce Legendary WvW gear that takes a legendary amount of effort to get so that PvP focused players have something simple to work forward.  This gear would break the item budget rules just like Legendary weapons do and look appropriately badass with minimal stat differences.

If they did that, then WvW folks wouldn't be pissed about new dungeon content being added.  They wouldn't feel shit on because carebear grinding of scripted instances is more highly rewarded than coordinated stategic and tactical efforts over a longer amount of time against human opponents.

To those of us who WvW constantly we could see our opponent charging across the battlefield in legendarily badass looking gear and say, "Wow, that guy's done a shitload of PvP and there's a decent chance he's good."

Is that guild [Ph]? cause that's the only guild I know that transferred to SBI from BG. Good Riddance, Urge is way stronger than them, we don't need a guild that transfers to any winning server.

hahahaha. We left BG after Urge kicked us out of "their" server. Yeah Urge is stronger, the results clearly show it. ;)

To reiterate my past posts, we were in BG for only 5 days after we decided to follow our ET friends. But hey, thanks for noticing. ;)

I don't mind if SoS beats us. I don't WvW for points.

But if anyone on SoS is like that guy who posted about pushing us down to T2, I will gladly play for the sole purpose of pushing their sh*t in.
