[Answered] Difference between lvl 10-19 & 20-> FOTM rings

16 December 2012 - 06:05 AM

So, you can get different kinds of ascended rings from even numbered levels from level 10 onward in Fractals of the Mists.

Level 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 have a chance of giving the player non-infused version of a random ascended ring and levels from 20 onward have a chance of giving same rings but they are (infused).

Is the only difference between the "Example's Ring" vs. "Example's Ring (Infused)" that the infused version just has already an infusion resistance upgrade on it when you get it? So, if you add the infusion resistance upgrade onto the not-infused one, they are basically the same thing?

Or are there any other differences between these two?

Phishing mail or legit guild wars 2 "newsletter" ?

13 December 2012 - 12:07 AM

Few hours ago received an email from The Guild Wars Team ([email protected]) with only

"It's Wintersday, the Most Wonderful Time of Year!" as message + link to the actual message contents and "This message was intended for *my email address* + some other info about how I was opted to receiving this newsletter.

Just a bit suspicious about all the newsletter stuff so just trying to see if anyone else got a similar mail or have I started to get phishing mails? Could be GW1 newsletter also. Just suspicious of these things :I

edit: got confirmation from support that this indeed was a legit newsletter and nothing to worry about.

FOTM Dungeon extra pop up chest question

22 November 2012 - 02:03 AM

Every 2nd difficulty level (2,4,6,8,10 etc.) of Fractals of the Mist (stops at certain point according to wiki) there'll be 4 stages instead of 3 and after you've completed the 4th one you get the usual chest reward + in addition a pop up chest, like a daily chest, which includes some goodies.

My question is this, what are the limitations to that pop up chest? Can you do for example level 10 three times in row and get the chest every time or does it have some time limit before you can get your second chest etc.?

Hobby dungeon explorer

03 November 2012 - 02:17 AM

How exactly does the hobby dungeon explorer achievement work? Once you've achieved the "dungeon master" achievement and title you unlock this achievement but it isn't exactly clear what are the requirements for it.

Does it require you to complete entire dungeons (story mode + all paths) or can you just run one dungeon path dozens of times and gain progress which would eventually lead to gaining the +5 points / repeat ?

Basically, can anyone explain briefly how this achievement works? :)

Still don't know how this achievement exactly works. Anyone figured it out yet? Wiki doesn't have any specific information.

Arah path 1 bug. Any workaround to it?

29 October 2012 - 09:50 AM

As some may be aware there is some sort of a bug in Arah path 1 which occurs just after you beat the final boss of this path (jotun stargazer). The stargazer fight is in a room just before the "victory area" and the door that leads to that area is locked. The locked door is supposedly going to open when you beat the boss.

However, for some reason, after our group killed the boss the door remained closed and we could not claim our token rewards nor get the path marked on the "paths done" achievement.

Is there any detailed information what causes this bug to happen? Some people have said that is because of the NPC dying after the final boss (to the boss' aoe fire rings or whatever) which makes the NPC (that is supposedly gonna open the door) bug out and make further progress impossible.

This seems to be the case with my situation also as the NPC did die after we killed the boss. And after we tried to talk to her (trying to figure out if we could get the door open by talking to her or so) she seemed to have the dialogue options that'd indicate that she got to the final area already. However, would like to know whether this is actually what's causing the bug or not.

So after the long explanation of the situation, my question is this:
  • Is this a bug that happens everytime the NPC dies after the final boss fight in arah path 1? Or does anyone know what causes this bug to happen?
  • Are there any workaround ways to prevent this bug from happening? Like having one person just stay on the side with the npc, making sure she won't die during the boss fight or after the fight.
Would really like to beat this path but this bug seems to have been around for quite some time already which is why I'm trying to see if there's something I can do to get around this annoying progress blocking bug.
