My advise would be something that's dimmable since you don't need the same amount of light for everything that you do.
for example for writing or reading you need quite white and bright light in front of you so you don't sit in your own shadow.
and for gaming you need around 50% of that light because too bright light might disturb you and will make your eyes feel heavy a lot faster.

For the heating issue I recommend using Led lights they don't really heat up at all
they do however are a lot more expensive at the shop but you will earn that money back in 2 years if you use it at least 3 hours every day, since Led lights are 3-7w and normal ones are 30-60w not to mention they last about 25years while normal bulbs only last 1-2years

do keep in mind that if you take led strips they don't dim the same way as normal light bulbs do.

something along the lines of :http://www.ledware.c...-10wdum-wt.html

If you do plan to use Led strips like this one LINK
then keep in mind that for the best functioning of the light you will need an aluminum housing to get all the heat out since Led lights might lose up to 70% of their lifetime if you don't keep them cool with something.
they don't get really hot(still touchable) but they are very sensitive to heat.

In Topic: Which MacBook Pro is it really worth buying?

If I were you I woud take the 15" not only because the performance is better but also because the screensize is quite ideal for both mobility and workspace (at least that's in my case).

I wouldn't worry too much about it's ability to run the game. (Especually when you have an ssd :D)
I have an IMac 27" i7 from 2011 and I can run gw2 smoothly Maxed out and a mbp15" core2duo from 2007 where I can run the game smoothly on low/medium.

I also found that you will gain a big fps boost when you run gw2 on osx instead of bootcamp since the graphics cards on a Mac are used as a normal processor and help the I7 out while it's doing less work vs the I7. In a game like gw2 that relies highly on processor power this makes a Huge difference.

On the price of the machine you have to keep in mind the price/quality of both.

You could buy a plastic box for 1000€ and have the same power but carrying something like that Around might affect it's lifespan,
A fully alluminum mbp might be the better option then.
