Hey All!

My name is Steve, or as you'd know me on Devona's Rest: Doomwobble. That is my main, and he is a level 80 Asuran Necromancer. My account name for finding any of my characters is CaptainWobblez.2789! I am a daily player and a Guild Wars veteran in my opinion. I've put 350 hours into this game so far and I don't even want to know the amount I spent on the original GW. The world of Tyria is very familiar to me and I'm happy to be a part of a community of fellow gamers! If you are on my server and would like to add me please do so, as I'm always looking to team up and play the crap out of this game :)

Aside from that, I work full time and when I'm not working I'm either recording music or playing on GW2. Such is my life lol. Hello Everyone! I hope to talk to you all in the forums, friendly and hostile posts alike!!! Hopefully more friendly than hostile though. :-b

In Topic: Is magic find as a game mechanic even necessary?

I'm glad I read into this post as I had no idea what Magic Find was before reading this. I've never used it, and judging by this don't really ever plan on using it. It would be ideal if they got rid of it. I'm not swapping out gear for another set just so I can farm and maybe get better items. I run around enough killing things in the game. I've spent a decent amount on the gear I have. I'm not spending more to create a set that's only significance is to slightly increase the odds of better drops. The best drops come from dungeon runs anyways typically, or the rare chance you'll get exotics in Orr.

I don't mind to miss things like that. It happens and it's to be expected. But I'll start to worry if these one time events give unique rewards. I always hated to be punished (by not being rewarded) by the game because I had more important things to do in real life.

That is my only concern as well. If you happened to get special items or something for being there at the event, when if you aren't a kid you most likely have work at noon time on a Friday. I'm on the East coast and I'm still at work at 4, when it would go live for me...But It seems as though sunday is the "big" thing to not miss. I'll be there.

In Topic: Kinda bored of the game already

Just to throw in my two cents...

The only MMO I ever really got hooked on was Guild Wars. I don't know why other MMOs didn't appeal to me, as I've tried a crapload of them. I played WoW and got two toons up to level 40 before I quit and got bored with it. I've tried Rift, Aion, MapleStory etc...Always came back to Guild Wars. Arena Net just did something differen't from most. I don't know if it was the lore behind the game or what, but I just found an overall better experience in it than with other MMOs.

Fast Forward to now. GW2 is released. I've been playing it since the pre-order weekend that we got. What have I done in it? Well, I got my character to 80. I'm almost done with my main story quests. I'm a master crafter in leather working. I JUST started doing dungeon runs with people. I still haven't tried WvW/PvPing. There's so much to do in the world to keep me entertained. It can be something as little as crafting materials to sell at the TP, or something as big as taking back a zone that is contested so that the waypoint is available to travel again for other players. It can be running through battlefields fighting every inch of the way and assisting players as I go along. See a blue skull and cross bones on the field near you? Go help that person out. See that people need help with an event in the map chat? Go to the area and participate!

I find it funny people complain about a lack of things to do, when the world itself is immensly huge. They are planning an event on the 15th of November in an area that we do not have access to as of now, which means a new explorable area with a new dungeon most likely. We just had the Halloween event that was pretty good in my opinion. Christmas (or Wintersday in GW lore) is another event coming in December, and ArenaNet is most certainly going to release meaty expansions in the future, along with their constant work on adding new events and challenges into the game itself. My advice is that if you are bored in this game you are probably overwhelmed and should play something else for a while. There certainly is not a lack of material in it, considering it's been out for a little over 2 months. Id' say they did well with the amount they put in right from the get go. Not to mention, it's free to play. This is another game that has me hooked much like it's predecessor.
