I don't see why everyone always makes the argument that the two sides are in opposition to each other. Guild Wars is more about your skills/traits/ and then your gear. You can run around in rare gear and still do fine against other players. People just get too emotional over a set of gear its like watching the damn election all over again.

I think people have way to much time on their hands with outrageous expectations. There was a lot of expectations with Guild Wars 2, especially from players of GW1. People have to at some point sit down and say...holy shit this is a business. I'm sure those 300-400 or so developers/designers/managers go home at night and think of ways they can betray their players. I know when I go to work I think of as many ways as possible that my business can not deliver on promises. >.>

Player expectations these days are insane compared to what they were years ago. We have some of the most amazing world class games at our finger tips, and we are going to spend hours tracking down every official statement so that we can bitch about all the things the developer didn't do right. I get it, players are paying for a service -  they want their money to be justified in the best way possible with everything they want. Even if all the employee's read every single forum post, and understood every player opinion, there are an exponential amount of complexities and decisions that have to be considered for everything they add. I bet nobody here has the foggiest idea how to you automatically manage the configuration of hundreds of servers in order to handle over a million concurrent users. If someone on their team messes up - we feel it. Ya'll ever think about how many dialogue options are in the game and how they might possibly store all of those ? Game developers are some of the hardest working under appreciated people in the world. If I had to go home at night and read through all this forum crap after spending all day debugging an npc that doesn't work.....I'd quit and go build a site dedicated to cat pictures. At least people appreciate those.

Can I just say that I'm super stoked for this dungeon ? I like that Arenanet is using their level mod system for this, it might be another way  to level up an alt and possibly get some decent gear in the progress! Guild Wars 2 has some of the best PVE mechanics i've ever seen in a game, bring on the challenge!

I like how everyone took this content update and turned it into a fearmongering campaign against Arenanet for trying to add new content into the game. I guess your damned if you do and damned if you don't? I personally am excited to see what they are going to do. I don't see any reason why they would need to touch the PvP gear, and for most folks a 17.6% stat increase (or whatever the calculation was based on a full gear set) isn't going to tip the WvW scales into their favor. That is far more about coordination, communication, and properly timed seige than it is about having the best gear.

I think to say "they are adding these new rings into the game with this new mechanic" and extrapolate that to "power creep, omfg now don't want to grind for gear. game is bad, etc" is the wrong attitude to have. Maybe they don't anything above ascended ? Maybe they don't add the rest of the ascended at all? Maybe they add 6-10 more tiers of gear in between? There really hasn't been a good way to obtain high level rings/accessories outside of crafting or the TP, so it's a nice addition to the game for now. Once they add the rest of the armor set, and see how their plan unfolds maybe we can freak out more and tell them they suck for being incredibly talented game developers.
