I would love it. But it's been mentioned before that it doesn't exactly fit the 'mesmer-y' theme. It's hard to stay within the boundaries of 'mystical illusion-weaver' when you're parading around as a gunslinging clone cowboy.
Still would love it, though.

Played a few minutes as a way to kill time before work one day. Didn't get into it at all. I decided to give it another shot a couple days ago. Haven't had this much fun since my first few days playing GW2. I'm sure my enthusiasm will die down, but if you know how to find the action the possibilities involved in combat are pretty limitless, especially if you're in a well-organized outfit.
Also I love FPS games. So I suppose I'm guilty of a bit of bias.

No, the game hasn't changed much yet. I wouldn't bother with others' opinions on where the game has gone lately. You'll get those who defend the game until death who will tell you nothing's wrong and those who enjoy complaining as much as possible who will tell you it will never get better and can only die from here. Just look at recent patch notes and see what additions have been made. Or log in? It's not as if you're paying extra money to jump back into the game.
In Topic: What is the best class?

The idea of 'DPS' in GW2 isn't quite what you would conventionally see in other MMOs. Every class does damage, and that's really as far as it goes in PvE. GW2 is more focused on the utility each class brings to a fight. If you don't know yet, there isn't a DPS meter or any way to really tell which class is currently the most powerful, damage-wise (in PvE, that is). If you're looking for a generally easy class to level, check out the Guardian, Ranger, or Warrior.
Honestly, all classes are fairly easy to level. Most consider the Mesmer the hardest to level, but even it's not unbearably difficult by any means. Just head over to the Mists and see what intrigues you about each one and go with that.
