#2216428 "It's unlikely Guild Wars 2 will ever get an expansion pack" by E...

Posted XRay on 03 July 2013 - 07:47 PM

The mmo community is such a wonderful body. You bitch if you have to pay, you bitch if you don't have to pay. It's always 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' with you guys -.-

Anyways to the point at hand~

I believe that the living story has great potential, they just need to make content accessible to everyone at all times. So for example if you go on a vacation just when the new living story gets brought out, you don't end up missing the whole shebang and can play if afterwards.

I find the sPvP SotG to be a great thing, and I'd like to see such a podcast for PvE/WvW aswell. The PvE part of the community needs to get the chance to speak up about their balance issues and to get the developers to actually shift a part of their attention to the part of the game that isn't just sPvP. I watch SotG pretty often and it's awesome that you're able to present your ideas or the ideas of your fellow players directly to a member of the staff. We need this for pve/wvw aswell, as it just isn't represented enough atm. And if this would actually manage to go through, I believe that many suggestions regarding the pve content and the living story would at least be heard, if not implemented or considered. Maybe it would get the ball rolling that could start the avalanche and lead to an overhaul of the living story concept.

While I certainly welcome any efforts to improve the game, it would be fantastic if A.Net understood that the game is more than just the 10 locations where you farm you fingers off. What the game needs is a second (or a 10th or 100th) look at how boring the combat is and how utterly unrewarding the WHOLE game is.

As boring as the dragons can be, they are in MUCH better shape than pretty much everything else in the game and it's insane that they keep trying to make things that are already passable better, while completely neglecting the things that are barely playable.
I don't agree with you. I have played over 800 hours and the gameplay is the only thing that keeps me playing at the moment.. However, I do agree that a lot of things feel unrewarding but i don't care for that as long it is fun.

How cool is it that we get to be able to purchase these fine examples of hatting craftsmanship. Surely the highlight of this entire chapter of the Living Story. Only thing that can top it off will be the swimwear.

I am so going to use the fantastic rewards I received from finishing the Secrets of Southsun living story to fund all my Panda Hat needs.

The whole 26 silver I got... Which translates to 8 Gems. Yay?

#2205651 Big Changes Coming to WvW Matchups

Posted Azure Skye on 24 May 2013 - 01:33 AM

This evening, Jordan Massey from ArenaNet posted a new blog post about some upcoming WvW changes:

The TL;DR Version

Basically, when you have a ladder for any kind of competition, all of the matchups don’t normally happen at the exact same time. You also normally have a pretty big group of entries in the ladder to choose from, which means that you’re matched with the closest opponent at the time the matchup is created. In the case of WvW, there are only 24 servers and the matchups all occur at the same time.

To counter this, we’re going to partially randomize server matchups, with the exception being we won’t match servers against other servers whose rating falls outside of an acceptable range. This range will be determined by using your world’s rating and deviation (already listed on the leaderboards).

If you're looking for more information on the changes and the math behind them, check out the latest article on Guildwars2.com.

Wouldn't it be great if when you had gotten to his corpse, there was a little pop-up on the right side of your screen that said "F: Loot"?

And then..... Rampager's Cabalist Coat

#2202733 Zhaitan: The Body Found

Posted lolevy on 16 May 2013 - 09:35 PM

Finally, after months of questioning the fate of the Elder Undead Dragon, I've found Zhaitan's body!

After killing the Elder Dragon (with sparkle cannons =P), my party and I decided to check-off skydiving over Orr from our Things-To-Do-After-Level-80 List. Well, amazingly, we all forgot our parachutes on the ship and fell tragically to our deaths.

We found we ended up where our first gunship had fallen, still running along with various other Pact soldiers (who we hope weren't ghosts @_@) Fortunately, I brought a revive orb and thus we began our exploration, or so we thought. Unfortunately though, I was the only one not stuck with the ship (curse those invisible walls!) so I had to venture alone. From this point it was all just empty space and swimming in nothingness for a long while which I will not bore you with a thorough retelling of.

After long periods of swimming and moving around invisible walls, I found Zhaitan! Here are the screens =3

EDIT: Forgot to also mention, found Zhaitan's tails that were cut/beamed off which actually led me to Zhaitan, so I guess those are also included in the model.

#2205260 Permanent Price Drop for Guild Wars 2 & New Gem Store Items

Posted Khalija on 23 May 2013 - 12:09 AM

Locking this thread for now as I sift through it.

I'd just like to make a general public announcement saying that this constant bickering back and forth between the same handful of people across the entire forum has got to stop. We don't care if you have criticisms of the game and want to express those, but each and every time both parties shit on almost every thread they participate in. The staff here are getting tired of it and so is the rest of the community (you guys are pretty much the only ones that get reported nowadays). And if you love the game, that's great, but you don't need to defend it as if your life depended on it. GW2 is not perfect, Anet is not perfect, and in some cases yes, they are full of it because it's their job; it's their job to sell their game.

So think to yourself: Do I want to see the game succeed? If so, am I being constructive with my criticisms (hint: this refers to both positive and negative opinions)? Can I seriously not think of anything to say other than bitch about GW2/Anet? Am I doing GW2/Anet/these forums a disservice by constantly crapping on/defending the game even when the other side has a good point? Has my own pride gotten the better of me in this argument?

And most importantly: Should I just move on already? Because if you continue along this path of crapping on every thread, we will make the decision for you.

Criticize GW2, but in reallity they did alot of content in the past 5 months. People say "should have been there at launch." Sure, but it wasnt. They still did ít all, could have bailed out with the money from 3+ million copies sold.

Anyway, price drop is not a bad thing, let more people play with us.

Pot calling the kettle black.

Uuuuh so you show a picture of JQ probably defending Bay by trying to rally people so they can get a treb down (me guessing no idea what really is going on there) and show "15" of you.  But you're not accounting for the other "15" of you behind and up or around the keep (not spawn).

Yeah makes sense when the guy is talking about being spawn camped.

#2201901 T1 WvW: The Big Three Olympians

Posted Vihar on 14 May 2013 - 01:50 PM

On the whole, I am having a blast in WvW right now, fighting as the underdog in WvW.

I am not sad to see fair weather warriors disappear, either. I am OK with that.

  The only two issues I am having right now that pisses me off are;

1) JQ zergs break and run. This really irritates me. However, this is a natural side effect, I think, of JQ not having large guilds that form the core of our zergs. Guild zergs are better than PuG zergs. Thats just life, you have to accept it.

2) I am happy as long as we are ticking 120+. That means I have somewhere I can go, get into a fight, and have some friends and allies around me.
Ticking 60 PPT and stuff like that just means everyone quit, and I am looking at facing 1 vs 40 every fight if I go to any map. This happens from time to time, and since I only play to WvW, it means that I just turn off the computer and go do something else.

All I want is a good fight somewhere I can join in on.  Damn the score, and damn the quitters.

#2200595 Why hasn't Anet addressed the current zerker or gtfo pve endgame?

Posted FoxBat on 10 May 2013 - 11:59 AM

They made this pretty clear in the year-plan. Casual daily open world grind is their focus. Dungeons they can't even be bothered to "overhaul" like they suggested, if you can call fighting the howling king on the stairs an "overhaul." This is not Vanilla WoW where everything pointed towards raids. Dungeons are just a bone thrown at a specific kind of player, but with not nearly enough attention to make them a robust experience.

This attitude towards "hardcore" PvE content really shouldn't surprise anyone considering this is the company that gave us Shadow Form. Though I have to say I'd take the GW2 meta over actual optimal GW1 dungeon builds, at least you have to worry about responding to big boss attacks rather than holding down the "I win" button.
