In Topic: Why GW2 Feels so Grindy

04 May 2013 - 08:13 PM

It's possible to make a little money whilst levelling up with regular drops. I've done it over several characters. However, the kind of grind necessary to get a legendary weapon is beyond most casual players.

I know the old comeback "Legendaries aren't for everyone. They're to reward the hardcore players". Well I'm calling shenanigans on this. Casual players paid the same money as everyone else and deserve to have legendaries that are within reach.

Let's face it, legendaries aren't legendary anyway. Arenanet needs to change the method of acquisition so that it requires hardcore skill to get one, not hardcore grinding or gold-buying.

No, it means guaranteed blue+ drops from all champions that you do enough damage on.

Blue drops are junk, as many others have said on various posts. Merchant fodder, in other words.

If this is the case, and frankly I will be disbelieving the Internet until the patch hits, then the additional work and time undertaken to beat a champion will make the reward, and effort, worthless.

And more drops is exactly what the fix means.
You are guaranteed a drop if you do enough damage.

I hope it also means better quality. I'm not finding much reason to continue playing at the moment.

I wasn't talking about quality of loot either...

from what i've read they are going to make it easier to get credit for killing a mob and getting loot

If this is correct, then that isn't the fix we want.

More drops and better quality please.

The problem of damage being the only source of loot determination makes it hard for WvW to convince others to play more support orientated roles because all they see at the end of a raid evening is that they've got 20 Badges while everyone else might have gotten 50-70.

My problem isn't that champions don't drop the blue I want, my problem is that nothing in this game drops anything of relevance or value pretty much. I am not exactly sure how many hours /age I have - but I'd hazard a guess and say it's about ~1800 hours since August and I got exactly 3 exotic drops which weren't account-bound despite doing high lvl fractals, dungeons, temple events, dragons - you name it.

That's a pathetic loot system that doesn't need a little twiddling here and there it needs utter revision.

QFT.

Loot is poor across the board.

Fix please.
