#2135261 How my Ban for Snowflake is different and unjustified!

Posted Omilla on 04 January 2013 - 03:57 PM

Everyone who got banned for this exploit will file in here over the next few days and try to tell us how they weren't trying to exploit and they only wanted to fix the economy.  Or end world hunger.  I have read several of these posts and many seem to have some fuzzy logic about how Anet wanted backpieces to be easier to get so they thought that this recipe was added to do that.  Maybe someday when a too good to be true thing presents itself to someone, they will think for 2 seconds before they dive headfirst into it and end up getting banned.

Haters gonna hate.

'Sploiters gonna sploit.

Anet gonna ban.

It is good to take the gains from these exploiters, not to ban them

For many people the rules are what can't be done. There will always be people trying to find exploits and it is only good when exploiters are making exploits public so they can be fixed quick, and the game can be made better.

Right now Anet only care about public or game breaking exploits and noob botters that gets reportet. Pro botters running dungeons and instances are left in peace. Thats the ones who need attention, not a random guy that read about a public exploit.

They all need attention and they all should be banned. Those players chose to exploit, now there crying about it and saying Anet is too harsh....would they prefer Anet bans noone for exploits?

If everyone thinks Anet doesn't ban for exploits, everyone would do it all the time knowing they would not be punished.

Seems like pretty harsh punishment to me. It was ANET's mistake.
I agree that the punishment was harsh this time, but both parties at fault!  It's easy to place all the blame on Anet whenever anything like this happens since they were responsible for the code... however, there are people out there that do not take advantage of things like this because we know playing around in a grey area means we may be putting ourselves at risk.  I find it hard to believe that every person that crafted and salvaged hundreds of those items can say that they felt like it was working as intended.  They proceeded with it even though they probably had a feeling that something wasn't right.  Anet didn't force them to do anything.  Greed did.

I don't get why they don't stealth pre-load big things like this in a way that they do X people at a time, and activate the actual update once (nearly) everyone who's online has it.

#2115995 Forcing players to PvP for World Completion

Posted Gerroh on 12 December 2012 - 08:14 PM

I've got world completion and I still think it's bullshit that people have to go into wvw to do exploration. It's bad for both parties.
WvW'ers have to put up with PvE'ers who don't contribute and just want to grab PoI's, vistas, and skill points.
PvE'ers have to go into something they don't enjoy, sit around waiting for the main force to take a tower or keep they need just for one PoI or vista.

Sure, WvW isn't structured pvp, it's not hardcore, but it's the fact that no matter how hard an individual tries, they just cannot at all get world completion until their server puts up a decent fight(And this is assuming you world transfer. You could be waiting for weeks or even months if you refuse to transfer).
The rest of world completion can be done solo. It might be a real pain in the ass at times, but it can be done solo. Putting world completion into wvw is just a shit sandwich for everyone.

Edit: Anyone suggesting you can just "run in and run out" has no goddamn idea what they are talking about.

#2081590 Ascended items appear to require an insane grind...

The Gift of Ascension requires 500 Fractal Relics. You get 5 Fractal Relics per fractal (15 for a full run of 3).

Ignoring the possibility that the Ascended items might require the exotic accessory shown there (1350 Fractal Relics), the Gift *alone* would require 34 full runs of the dungeon to obtain.

For comparison, it takes 1380 dungeon tokens to buy a *full set* of Exotic dungeon gear, or 21 explorable mode runs.

One Ascended item (assuming it uses the Gift of Ascension) will take 13 more runs than obtaining an entire exotic dungeon set. If it requires the exotic trinket as well, it would be 103 more runs than a full exotic dungeon set.

Anyone else think that's a little insane, especially considering that Ascended items are essentially required due to being almost a full tier better than exotics with equivalent upgrades?
You get 5 Fractal Relics for the first run I believe, chances are that with the increasing difficulty comes increased rewards...
