Everyone who got banned for this exploit will file in here over the next few days and try to tell us how they weren't trying to exploit and they only wanted to fix the economy. Or end world hunger. I have read several of these posts and many seem to have some fuzzy logic about how Anet wanted backpieces to be easier to get so they thought that this recipe was added to do that. Maybe someday when a too good to be true thing presents itself to someone, they will think for 2 seconds before they dive headfirst into it and end up getting banned.

I don't get why they don't stealth pre-load big things like this in a way that they do X people at a time, and activate the actual update once (nearly) everyone who's online has it.

I've got world completion and I still think it's bullshit that people have to go into wvw to do exploration. It's bad for both parties.
WvW'ers have to put up with PvE'ers who don't contribute and just want to grab PoI's, vistas, and skill points.
PvE'ers have to go into something they don't enjoy, sit around waiting for the main force to take a tower or keep they need just for one PoI or vista.
Sure, WvW isn't structured pvp, it's not hardcore, but it's the fact that no matter how hard an individual tries, they just cannot at all get world completion until their server puts up a decent fight(And this is assuming you world transfer. You could be waiting for weeks or even months if you refuse to transfer).
The rest of world completion can be done solo. It might be a real pain in the ass at times, but it can be done solo. Putting world completion into wvw is just a shit sandwich for everyone.
Edit: Anyone suggesting you can just "run in and run out" has no goddamn idea what they are talking about.
