Good boy. Always assume that ANet is lying until you no longer need to assume since it has become obvious that they did.
Also there is no Minipet Polar Bear in GW1.

But RL time optimization is not the same thing. You should work your ass off to earn money regardless, but you can probably find something else than an i7 to spend your money on. The decision to buy an i7 or not must be weighed against the opportunity cost.

As for the game, it is entirely spent preparing to have fun anyway, so why should you not grind for it?

Oh, sorry, maybe you enjoy repeating jumping puzzles or walking from preset point to preset point to "explore" the map. But apart from that, I mean?

My point is that if you are doing it for the challenge you'd settle for the same reward as you would get for level 1. If you don't, then you are not doing it for the challenge, but for the extra reward.

That is fail logic right there. A person can do something for a challenge and at the same time feel the need to be rewarded. The feeling that the reward should be at least relatively higher than a lesser challenge a is more a matter of fairness and principle. Honestly, I have desired to climb Fractals higher and higher and till this day i still don't ever pay attention to how many Fractal Relics I get for completion or from a chest or even how many I have total. If someone really wanted all this extra Fractal tokens, then he could've farmed Fractal 26-40 repeatedly and it would've been more efficient than hitting against a the Level 80 wall for so long. The very notion that they stood together and took a picture for reaching Fractal 81 says this. Do you think anyone of them counted the number of tokens they received after the last boss went down? No.

Sadly the real life comparison works. People buy technology not because of opportunity costs or RL optimization of any kind. It's just the desire to feel like they upgraded something and acquired something newer and better. It's the same with MMO, people inherently need to feel progression in the real world and in the virtual world.

When people retire and just spend their life surfing or wood carving they want to master an art. There is a group of people out there in GW2 that want a challenge and have their skills tested.

On another topic, it's sad that the first and only super high level Fractal completion video dispersed is one of a Warrior, Guardian Mesmer party. But it's ONE video folks. It's a bit quick to make class assumptions based on one success story.

Players do it for the bragging epeen rights and hoping that Anet add more rewards to fractals later on, maybe fractal armor that only drops at lvl 40+ or ascended stat weapons at lvl 60+ etc etc...those are just examples.

They will already have the levels unlocked if Anet adds more rewards to higher levels in the future.

Of course why else would Dazzy make a GW2Guru account and have only 1 post here? =P

I'm the warrior in the video, and I am not surprised that the discussion has turned into one about why Fractals are bad.

You only need 2 guardians. We just had 3 because a lot of guardians level up faster since they are the only class that is required and thus easier to find parties for. Having a warrior or mesmer didn't make a difference whether we were able to progress or not.

For those of you who don't know, the only thing that matters is wall of reflection and shield of the avenger. With these 2 skills you can block ranged attacks which cause most of the damage in the upper levels because anyone can avoid melee damage by ranging mobs.

I would like Anet to fix this because I don't want the game to devolve into GW1 where people waited hours for monks.
