edit @Reikou: Sorry but you didn't understand I guess. I'll write you the part that is key to this: "but finding the loop that PRODUCES more and more items in a cycle is an exploit." People produce items = produce gold out of nothing in short time = bug not intentded = you should report = don't abuse it = ban if u do. I'm not gonna respond to you again.

You've all fairly well shown that you're divided into two camps, so it doesn't seem like there's anything left to be done here. Especially since the OP has already declared victory.

It just seems to me like they aren't sure who to target for their metrics. If you look at the players that have 1000+ hours logged already, those who may have been farming non-stop or manipulating the markets, the costs of these ascended items are high, but not compared to the wealth they have. When you compare it to someone like myself, who has about 300 hours, they look awfully steep. When I see these statements about "wanting minimal grind" after introducing items with objectively superior stats that take 300 ecto + other mats to attain each, I have to imagine that they are panicking about the number of players that are rolling in money. In my opinion, this is a poor group to look at. Those who want to achieve vast wealth will always do so; you can't keep them at bay without enacting measures that cripple anyone else, so I don't believe that they should be looking to them for what they determine as the baseline. If they want content to be virtually unattainable for the vast majority of players, that's one thing, but their stated goals disagree with that. There is a disconnect somewhere.

None, since I am an Ascended hater, why would I have an Ascended item?
I will always be in FOTM level 1 as I have stopped playing FOTM altogether. I will be forced to quit this game sooner or later as I have decided not to participate in their gear grind. Bring it on, ArenaNet!

I came to a game that promised me no gear grind for TOP stats armor , just for looks...
Wait , what do i see now? Gear grind at its best. WoW style.
So nop , people that came hoping Anet would keep their promises like me are also on the quitting stage now.

I'm surprised no one's comparing Valve's crate system in TF2. Most things from the crates weren't cosmetic, but sidegrades, but more importantly, the drop rates and the short list of items you could get from each one. Maybe black Lion chests need categorising and limiting. The ratio in drops of keys:chest is staggeringly poor, which basically forces you to buy keys or have over 9000 chests in your storage. In TF2, I would play maybe 80 hours a week and get two or three crates in that time, if not less. Due to their semi-rarity, you'd feel more inclined to buy a key. The logic works something like: "Oh cool, a crate! I guess I can buy one key; I could get a rare weapon 
" as opposed to "Oh look, another crate... Like Hell if you think I'm buying one key every 10 minutes."

Nobody is saying that they hate Anet, they just hate the design decisions that are being implemented. We all supported Anet financially from the very beginning, be it buying GW1 expansions, from telling friends to buy GW2 and buying GW2 ourselves, and continuing to support the company through the gem store. But the moment a game decision is disagreed on, suddenly we don't support Anet? What is this mentality of having to agree 100% religiously on everything they do game design wise?

Whining about whiners is fine as long as the whining is about the people who whines with no reason, because it's unfair to generalize all the whining as a whole. Gotta keep in mind that people whine in the first place because they just want this game to be better while you whine because some people don't share your low expectations and aren't satisfied as easily.
