#1976483 Misconception: GW2 Loot

That my friend is total bull-loney.  Ran Queensdale for 3 hours last night with MF gear and MF food.  Gathering was good, but gear drops, nothing higher than lvl 60 junk.

This game  is looking more and more like every other Asian cash shop grind fest economy every day.

I tend to get about 75% 75-80 items (quite a few rares) and 25% area-level gear. When visiting low level areas.
You are simply unlucky.

It was a good run. It was definitely worth $60.00 just like I'd say Diablo III also was. It was definitely worth the 300+ hours or so that I got from it.

The game was officially released on August 28th. That's 542 hours 23 mins before the time of your post. You have played 300+ hours. That means you have spent more than 55% of the total available time in your life playing this game since launch. Hoping you had at least 6 hours of daily sleep, you ended up playing nearly 75% of the every waking hour of your life in last 3 weeks or so.

I think the game got bored of you and decided not to offer you any more fun till you take some rest and help yourself in the process.

I say that jokingly. But, in all honesty, the impact of sitting on your butt 75% of the day will take heavy toll on your body. It does not matter how old you are. You will have serious issues with your health if you don't take a break now.

#1935094 Player attitude major problem with the game

I think you either need to have all or most events have chests or none of them.  Solves the problem right there.  The chests don't have to have anything amazing in them (though a chance of that would be good) but it still gives people a little treat that makes them happy.

Once you split it up into some events have them and some don't it creates a sense of some events being more valuable than others which shouldn't be the case.  I don't really think it is anything that you need to blame the players for.  People like some reward system.

#1918666 Fix dungeons loot. - Not fun in my eyes

Posted Tevesh on 11 September 2012 - 06:41 PM

We were promised 1 dungeon run = 1 item back then. Like the game or not, you can't deny we were. Where are those promises now? Looks like they just dropped a bunch of zeroes at the end of the item prices.

#1924056 The trailer creators were on some serious shrooms...............

Posted moomooo1 on 12 September 2012 - 08:54 PM

Yep... Quite speechless really...

Go ahead and make a great game. What's that? Game too good? Let's make a horrible trailer and scare off many potential customers...

#1881794 Anyone else get annoyed when you see full damage specs in dungeons?

Posted StaalDK on 05 September 2012 - 02:58 AM

Not really.

It's the same thing in every game, difference is here you don't have a designated tank nor healer.
I personally play a guardian, and I play him as offensively as possible, with that said I still bring out stability buffs and other support in dungeons, and PvP.
But I did not make a Guardian to be a full support, beauty of GW2 is you can play the way you want too, if people want you in dungeons or not, doesn't really matter.

#1871011 Logan Thackeray Facts

The novel itself was loathsome, but that is entirely beside the point.

As a captain of the Seraph, Logan Thackeray makes sure there is a whaaaambulance station in every district in Divinity's Reach.

#1874292 120 DE for 1 Exotic armor acceptable?

Posted Red Sonya on 03 September 2012 - 10:29 PM

What happened to skill > time

This isn't Guild Wars 1 and they never said that about GW2 which is an MMO not a co-op anymore. Also when they said grind free that was to level 80 and it is grind free to level 80. They never said GW2 is COMPLETELY grind-free which would have then made them liars. They used marketing wording which makes YOU ASSUME it is COMPLETELY grind free. lol You need to learn marketing skills. ;)

#1873862 Anyone hating the game character clunky controls and camera?

Posted punio4 on 03 September 2012 - 08:41 PM

This is going to be a long post, so bear with me.

First of all, everyone who says that they have no issues and that it's the problem with someone's computer or personal preference has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. And I mean that. The level of ignorance is astounding.
Second. Anyone who starts touting their Razer Nagas, G700s, RATs and other epeen mice and saying how it fixes/breaks their camera should donate those mice to people who understand the underlying problems.
And finally, people who attribute others' camera issues to network lag should delete their system32 folder to increase performance.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, the camera IS horrible. It features:
  • input lag
  • negative acceleration
  • smoothing
  • inertia / easing
  • a physical camera presence in the world that even gets stuck on terrain
  • zooming / snapping / bouncing
  • narrow FoV
  • lockups
  • erratic movement
  • other numerous bugs
The only thing they have to add to make it even worse is angle snapping. Or inverted controls. Frankly, I've played 3rd person games with better cameras in the late nineties.

The camera speed slider has nothing to do with the issues at hand, it just tells the camera how much to translate the OS's reported movements to the ingame camera. Or in layman's terms, it controls the speed of the camera. Who would've thought that the camera speed slider controls the camera speed.

The problem has been reported numerous times since BWE1 on the official forums, GW2guru, Twitter, reddit and via email and support tickets. To say that they are unaware of the problem would be a huge understatement. Obviously it would take a lot of work to fix it, which would imply that it's very broken in it's current state, or hardcoded. Otherwise, we would've heard atleast an official acknowledgement of the issue.
I suggest to anyone that wants to see it changed to send a support ticket with the feedback / bug report tag until we get a proper response. Here's mine.

You can have a crappy story, crappy graphics, and mediocre content, but if the game still plays great people will play.
GW2 has an awesome story, amazing graphics, interesting content, but terrible controls.  No matter how great everything else is, the potential fun is directly proportional to your ability to control your character.
Well said. The games that I had most fun with are those with tight and enjoyable controls. And it's not all just about fun, it's also about competitiveness. ArenaNet said that they want GW2 to rise to be an e-sport. With the current implementation of the camera controls, and the dreadful skill queue, they're in for a rough surprise. The first and foremost thing a competitive game needs are precise and responsive controls, everything else is secondary.

To sum it up, I have no idea who was in charge of the camera algorithm, but whoever they were either need to fix this floaty, sloppy mess, or Anet should hire someone who can.

#1868915 able to Swap 3 weapon Sets?

currently we can only swap 2, I dont really see how anyone would not want this as an option, but it would be amazing and make the combat much more rich and complex.

They chose two sets, because the "depth" of choices come from compromises.
Every character build should have a weakness baked into it.  That's the way GW2 is balanced.

If you could use 3 weapons, you'd be able to do wacky stuff like apply bleeds, invulnerability and weakness all at once, with a single character.  It would quickly render a lot of builds overpowered.

The key is to know where you fit, what your build can and can not do.. and use it to maximum effect.
