A buddy of mine got into the beta and played this weekend. I had the chance to sit down and watch him play it, and I wasn't impressed in the least.

The game plays like a mix between Skyrim and Oblivion (mostly because it looks more like Oblivion than Skyrim graphically), and just feels like an Elder Scrolls single player game with a multiplayer component (he played in first person the whole time, so maybe that was it?)

In the game world there's no real distinguishing features that separate NPCs from PCs, so you really can't tell who's another player and who's an NPC other than their behavior clearly distinguishing so. Maybe that's another aspect that makes it feel kind of like a single player ES game.

The combat was just like Skyrim, except a lot more difficult since it has an MMO leveling system. But it feels familiar, as the more he used his sword and the shield the more those skills increased. Everything about the game feels really familiar and it doesn't look like it's going to bring anything new to the table other than an MMO with a first person view.

Well that's disheartening. It sounds like it may be a watered down version of the original with a multiplayer component.

It depends. If you are simply getting a replacement motherboard, then no.

Or, if you are simply getting a newer motherboard of the same type - that is, you are replacing a  Z77 based motherboard with a different Z77 motherboard - then you can get away without needing to re-install Windows, but you may get some glitchiness until you update the motherboard drivers.

If you are going to a completely different chipset, such as replacing an AMD based motherboard with an Intel, or even updating a socket1156 to socket 1155 or 1150, etc, you may find that the machine won't even boot until you do a re-install.
And, in this case, you should do a re-install. (You don't necessarily need to re-format, however.)

Yea I'm transitioning to an entirely new chipset with everything new except the mechanical/optical drives. I hope I don't have to reinstall until I'm ready to buy new drives, but if there is any substantial glitches I guess I won't have a choice.

I think end game content will always determine whether most mmos surpass that good to great threshold. Most mmos will be pretty similar throughout, but if you can keep people interested after they get through the leveling grind that will be what counts. Cool weapons, interesting dungeons, reasons to collect junk, whatever it may be...end game has to be great. GW2 never seemed to quite get there, but then again I haven't played in a while so maybe it has gotten there by now.

I think those with amazing internet connections who generally have no connectivity issues have few complaints about the XB1, but that is still probably the minority. Those more casual gamers that are on the fence or have no preference and leaning towards the PS4 may find that come release when PS4's are sold out everywhere...they will end up buying an XB1 because they don't want to wait for more PS4 supply and just want to get in this console generation sooner rather than later.

That said the everything about the PS4 looks pretty awesome and I will plan to get one on release. I hope they offer more release day bundles than what amazon is showing though because none of those really impressed me. I don't want FPS bundles because FPS's are always better on PC. No controller replaces a mouse for accuracy.

Ideally I would like it if mainly just my OS was on an SSD, but that probably won't happen until I get around to it in the future and at this point I have everything on one mechanical hard drive which is my worry that possibly the new mobo won't recognize something. I do plan to back stuff up before putting it all together, I'm just curious as to how much an OS is tied to a mobo.
