#2239145 I can't keep up

Posted Plume on 02 October 2013 - 06:49 AM

I'm pretty sure he is not complaining that there is too much content.
He is complaining that the content doesn't stay for extented period of time so that he could be able to enjoy it.

The problem lies in the fact that instead of giving us permanent content, they replace it every two or four weeks.

Cuz playing it for fun to help your friends out is obviously out of the question....

This is another invalid argument. Why? Because I can help my friends in content for the fun of it no matter what the design is. For that reason, stating this serves no purpose other than to stagnate discussion, create an argument, and is on the same level as saying "Nu uh! You are wrong!" or "Well you are just playing the game wrong." Your claim doesn't actually support that the design doesn't punish players from playing multiple characters for fun.

Whether I am having fun or not does not negate the fact that the game design punishes a player even if they are still having fun.

Well you also can't prove that can ya? Lol

To be fair I can't prove what I said either but history is on my side.

I can prove it just by pointing at the number of MMOs out there and then pulling up the rate at which they lose subscriptions. The fact is, people don't play MMOs for years anymore. Some do, but the majority play for less than two years before they move on with a large percentage moving on before a year. Especially when you take into account the MMOs that have completely died long before the players could have racked up years under their belts. The MMOs with players that play for 5+ years are the outliers not the average.

Edit: Also, "Working as intended" is not a valid argument and doesn't contribute to a discussion. Regardless of whether or not the game is designed a certain way or if you like the way it is going and another person doesn't, you can still have a discussion on why the current way is better than another way or vice versa. Just saying "it is the way it is so deal with it" doesn't do anyone any good. Prove why the way it is is better.

This is from a moderation perspective, not a participant perspective in case you were wondering.

GW2 has never been alt friendly but now it is just plain Alt hostile. There is simply no reward for leveling alts.

In nearly every other game I have played having alts was a big help, it allowed you into things you couldn't do on your main, or it allowed you to play fun rewarding content two or three times over. But with the way things are currently in GW2, I just find myself using alts as mules and crafting whores. I dont find a benefit to them outside of a break from the skills of the main and I dont see any reward in investing a lot of time, money, and tokens into them as they cant pay it back.

It's true though that people who complain about GW2 being unfriendly to alts are whining because they have to work twice as hard for their rewards.

If you ask me, one should expect that.

Stopped reading right here because you don't understand.

People are willing to work twice as hard.

They're willing to work harder.

But they're throttled by DR and daily rewards that are account bound.

Read the thread before offering your wooden nickels.

The rest of your tripe is telling people how they should play the game.

I think you are confusing "Gear Treadmill" with "something to do".  You picked the wrong game if you want the former, but this game has a serious problem with the latter.

Part of the reason I started playing Guild Wars 2 is that it was much more accessible. There was no end-game gear grind, there was a unique event and non-quest questing system, but then you hit 80 and after a while everything gets repeatitive. A plateau is hit where there's no room for advancement. Perhaps that's by design but, for me anyway, it gets rather stale. There's nothing to aspire to aside from what cool weapon and armor skins you can collect. Even in the Fractals you get margainally better gear that has the main added bonuses of allowing you to progress further into that particular "dungeon". Adding ranks in WvW is a step in the right direction but by and large Guild Wars 2 has become fantasy combat themed dress-up and I've grown bored of it.

Am I wrong?

The reason why cosmetic progression is not working for Arena Net is because there is none in the first place.

#2125448 Hottest character in GW2

Posted Archduke on 21 December 2012 - 09:00 PM

As a gay male. I have actually not found very many hot guys. Logan makes me barf, literally all NPC Human,Sylvari and Norn men are "meh"  ..Charr..not really attracted to them...(I mean. wtf ew? lol) and the Asura make me cringe. :P

So my main character ofc! ;)

But even gay men know female beauty when we see it. Queen Jennah is pretty nice on the eyes though I would never call her hot.

I for one have yellow fever and can't wait for the Cantha expansion. :P (not so much the males though)

Wow. I just came to the realization that as a gay man, I am really picky with my dudes.
