In Topic: what if... dungeons trash mobs were not skippable?

Not skipping them wouldn't make dungeons any more interesting or challenging. The majority of dungeon mobs are just damage sponges with uninteresting mechanics.

The depth of gameplay didn't come from either of those aspects. And yes, both existed in GW1.

Listening directly to customers leads you in the direction of cutting off the nose to spite the face. People complained about "Build Wars", so ANet more or less did away with builds and left a lot of people disappointed. People complained about the holy trinity, so ANet did away with it, and left the game sorely lacking in depth because of it.

I could only watch so much before the awfulness of that JCPenny analogy overcame my sensibilities.

Build Wars and the Holy Trinity were valid complaints (this is not to say that either or these are always bad, but that GW1 players did not care for them). ANet's failure did not prove that these complaints weren't valid, just that their method of fixing said problems did not work as well as disgruntled players may have wanted it to. Circumstantial evidence isn't proof of the presence or absence of inherent properties.

In Topic: Dragon Bash Festival Thread!

I kind of agree with Chabby.

Festival events were the one part of the Guild Wars franchise that I knew ANet could do well. They did it well in GW1 and Halloween and Wintersday in GW2 was great for the most part. But this? I don't mind having achievements in events assuming they are a supplement to the actual event. The achievements seem to be the content with Dragon Bash. Aside from grinding them the only other thing to do is Moa Racing and Dragon Ball. Honestly, the only interesting thing I found about Moa Racing was the banter between fellow gamblers. At least I enjoy Dragon Ball. My regrets to anyone who is not interested in either of these as this event is pretty much a wash for them then.

And I am really disappointed the holograms don't behave like nodes. Having players compete for their spawns essentially screws over new players trying to compete with the hoardes of 80s that 1 shot them in the starter zones.

In Topic: Dragon Ball, where did you go wrong.

I find Dragon Ball to be just as interesting and fun as the Dragon Arena. They just need to fix the consumable exploit and I'll be playing this regularly.
