In Topic: What's Going to Happen to the Living Story?

Yeah I didn't really care for half of the characters in the living story to be honest. I liked the original Destiny's Edge.

I had a brainwave this morning about this, actually. What if the living story returns after the expansion releases? What if it acts as a bridge to a new expansion? For example, Season 1/2 lead into Heart of Thorns - you just needed the main base game. What if Season 3/4 leads into the next expansion (only requiring the base game again). That way people are introduced to the new characters, can play the 'bridge' part at any time as long as they log-in or buy it from the gem store and that gives them an idea of what the expansion will involve. If I was at Arenanet, that's probably how I'd be planning it.

I think the Living Story idea is really cool. It just needs to make permanent changes and add challenging content. Season 2 was far far better than Season 1 in every single way. Here's hoping it will return after HOT at some point!

Hmm, hopefully. Still, 5 months is a very long wait time! There hasn't really been a break like that since when the game first launched.

Well, I'm excited! Especially considering the last patch and generally the entire season as a whole has been AWESOME.

Thankfully they have the features we've been wanting for a while - party search, a better trading post, better way of handling armours and dyes (account-wide - woohoo!). But now it has a major content problem. It annoys me that there was just so much potential at the beginning of the game with the new races revealed, loads of dragons to fight, the mystery of where the human gods went to, etc. When I first played Guild Wars 2, I was looking forward to diving into that world full of rich lore and magic from Guild Wars 1. I never imagined Arenanet would almost abandon the storyline and world for over 2 years.

Hopefully Living Story Season 2 part 2 will actually get us to kill off another Ender Dragon and maybe lead into an expansion. I mean, they have separate teams for the living world, right? So what are the other people doing? :(

And here's a post from Reddit to show my expectations when I first started playing this game:

We're going to kill Mordremoth in the living story getting a few new zones in the Maguuma Area.
Then they'll release a boxed expansion in which we unlock Elona and kill Kralkatorik.
Then again some living Story to get rid of Jormag and venture through the Far Shiverpeaks until they release the next expansion in which we get a massive overhaul to underwater combat and fight bubbles to finally visit Cantha.
Following this a longer segment of LS to unlock the depths of Tyria and kill Primordus.
Then they'll throw in a HUUUUUGE expansion introducing a new massive continent and a new threat which we slowly defeat over years of biweekly LS patches.
Of course everything comes with new races/professions.
Kodan, Tengu, Dwarves, Mursaat, Largos you name it.

To be honest, I stopped playing a couple of months ago. I liked the new living story but after 2 years of almost no content change at all... it was just time to put the game down and leave it until it grew. The game is still very much alive. I logged in the other day to play some WvW and was pleased to see a healthy number of players roaming around. It's just sad that it's been around for so long and yet the developers haven't really given us much more to do towards the end of the game. My level 80 characters have become more like museum pieces than anything else.

Here's hoping they announce an expansion or a flood of new content soon! :)
